The potential client when choosing to buy a product or service is most often influenced by the brand. This means the brand is a key factor in the choice of a product compared to other brands with the same attributes. The brand is the consumer’s root of loyalty.

According to the Nice Classification, there are two types of trademarks: the Product Mark and the Service Mark which is a distinctive sign (logo) used on products or linked with the marketing of products. Here is a third type, one that will make you attractive and you will definitely stand out from others:  The employer branding or the brand image.

Trademark Protection in 5 questions

  1. What are the terms of trademark protection?

The mark must be distinctive and precise, not misleading to the consumer and must not be contrary to public order, morality or the rights of third parties.

  1. What is the term of trademark protection?

Ten (10) years renewable with no time limit, provided you apply to  the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) and pay the related taxes.

  1. How much does it cost?

Prices are fixed following your application to OAPI for it includes the application for trademark registration, renewal, and research.

  1. Where to deposit your mark?

At the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI), venue of the Divisional Office, P.O Box 887 Yaounde-Cameroon.

  1. What are the necessary requirements?

A M301 Form duly filled in duplicate.

The employer brand creates a powerful employer identity, it markets the company, its management its working conditions, its dynamism, the fruitfulness of its environment and its development projects.  The attractiveness of a company is primarily related to its values, its corporate culture. An impact oriented communication at this level makes it possible to create or recreate a psychological and moral attachment contract with employees, clients and partners.
